General information about IFMSA CZ exchanges
IFMSA CZ offers two types of exchanges:
RESEARCH EXCHANGE
(SCORE - Standing Committee on Research Exchange)
student can get the research exchange after finishing the 2nd year the duration of the exchange is from 4 weeks to 6 weeks the exchange is carried out in English participating student is incorporated into a research team and works on chosen theme in clinical or preclinical section student is working under a super vision of a tutor actualized list of available research projects on www.ifmsa.net/public/ more information on www.ifmsa.org/score after the end of the project student gets a SCORE Certificate
PROFESSIONAL (CLINICAL) EXCHANGE
(SCOPE - Standing Committee On Professional Exchange)
student can get the professional exchange after finishing the 3rd year the duration of the exchange is 4 weeks the exchange is carried out in English or the language of the hosting country student will undergo a medical practice (clerkship) on chosen departement in a hospital abroad the exchange (the clerkship) is purely educational, student will not receive a salary for it Exchange Conditions (exact informtion about the exchange in the chosen country) on www.ifmsa.net/public/ more information on www.ifmsa.org/scope at the end of the clerkship after fulfilling all exchange program's conditions, student will obtain the SCOPE Certificate
BILATERAL OR UNILATERAL EXCHANGE?
BILATERAL EXCHANGE
Bilateral exchanges are the basis of the IFMSA exchange program. For one outgoing student we have one incoming student.
Student pays the organization IFMSA CZ a exchange fee of 8.000 CZK. For this fee student has ensured the abroad exchnge, accomodation, meal once a day or money for food (according to the Exchange Conditions) in the chosen country.

UNILATERAL EXCHANGE
Only students from one country will take part in the program. Student should pay all expenses to the host organization.
Student pays the organization IFMSA CZ a fee of 1.800 CZK. For this fee student has ensured the abroad exchange. Upon arrival in to the chosen country student should pay all expenses to the host organization (accomodation, boarding) as the exchange fee (250-350 euro). You will find the exact amount of the exchange fee in the Exchange Conditions of the chosen country. This type of exchange is in the list of available exchanges marked as Uni.
For both bilateral and unilateral exchanges students should cover the insurance, travel expenses and pocket money by themselves.
During the summer months in the most of the countries the host organizations provides social programm for incoming students.
In the academic year 2006/2007 the 3rd Faculty of Medicine got from the Developing grant - Fund of Mobility of MŠMT (Ministry of Eduacation, Youth and Sports) in the total amount of 400.000 CZK. Money from this grant were divided between IFMSA CZ outgoing students as a benefit for the transportation. Students going outside Europe gained benefit in the amount of 10.000 CZK, students going to Europe gained at least 5.500 CZK.
The 3rd Faculty of Medicine got this grant again in the academic year 2007/2008.
Notice: Students can not get benefit from Mobility Fund UK.
HOW TO GET THE EXCHANGE?
In the begining of November 2008 we will have the list of the countries, in which it would be possible to go for the exchange for this year. You will find the list at the area of the Faculty or on our web pages: www.ifmsa.cz.
You will find the application forms for the audition for the exchanges outside the room nr. 226A (the office of TRIMED and IFMSA CZ).
Audition - test of english - it is necessary to pass the test of english.
According to the gained points from the english language test, tests of other languages, points from the first exchange with IFMSA CZ and extracurricular activities we make a rank of the students.Students, who would not get the exchange will make a group of substitutes. If some student cancels the exchange we will inform the substitutes via e-mail.
ASSESMENT CRITERIA FOR IFMSA CZ EXCHANGES for 2008/2009
The maximum score you can achieve in individual categories:
English language test 100 points First exchange with IFMSA CZ 5 points Extracurricular activities1 40 points2 Other language3 25 points2 _____________________________________________________________ ___________________ Altogether maximum 155 points
The student with the highest score is the first to pick his clerkship, then comes the second best, third best etc. until all available places are filled.
1 - by extracurricular activities we mean:
- activity for IFMSA CZ (max. 30 pts)
- activity for TRIMED/AMSEC (max. 25 pts)
- SVA (=students? scientific activity) which the student has already defended and presented (only counts for SCORE) (max. 10 pts)
- teaching activities on our faculty (with written proof, e.g. anatomy) (max. 10 pts)
- activity for the Academic senate (max. 10 pts)
2 - The bonuses for extracurricular activities and another language add up to a maximum of 50 pts (e.g.
if a student obtains 30 pts for one and 25 pts for another, they shall only count as 50 pts altogether)
3 - you can take an additional test from another language, but the bonus you receive only counts for the countries in which this language is spoken (e.g. French for Tunisia).Language profficiency certificates under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (DELF/DALF, DELE, CILS, PLE, Deutsches Sprachdiplom) will be recognized and counted as follows:
Level A...... 7 pts
Level B...... 15 pts
Level C...... 25 pts
4 - Upon attending an IFMSA clerkship, all points used throughout the application process shall be erased.
IFMSA CZ reserves the right to perform changes in the abovementioned criteria if internal or external reasons occurr.
The exchange distribution will be held before Christmas in December 2008. Student with the highest point score can choose his exchange first, then the next one until there are no exchanges available. Students get the printed Exchange Conditions of the chosen countries.
Students have to prepare all needed documents (fx. photos, motivation letters..) according to the Exchange Conditions of the chosen country. Students have to hand over theese documents to LEO (Local Exchange Officer, for professional exchange) or LORE (Local Officer on Research Exchange, for research exchange), pay the exchange fee to the IFMSA CZ organization and in the IFMSA database create their electronic Application Form (AF). The handover of the documents and stuff will take place in January 2009.
At latest 8 or 6 weeks in advance from the start of the exchange student gets from the host organization electronic document called the Card of Acceptance (CA) - in this document student will find out the city, the hospital department or the name of the research project on which is the student admitted. In the CA there are also contact information of the hosting country. Student then confirms his arrival in the Card of Confirmation (CC).
