General Info

Thanks to the IFMSA you have the opportunity to do the clerkship at the medical schools abroad. Clerkships are intended for the students of general medicine. There are two categories of clerkships:

a) Research clerkships:

They are responsibilty of Standing Comitee for Research Exchange - SCORE. They are organized in two categories: as a projects with labwork or without it. You can apply fot this clerkship since the second year. Person responsible for these clerkships at our faculty is Local Officer on Research Exchange - LORE Jiřina Kafková.

b) Clinical clerkships:

They are responsibility of Standing Comitee for Proffesional Exchange - SCOPE. Anyone who studies 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th year can do this clerkship. Person responisble for these clerkships at our faculty is Local Officer on proffesional Exchange - LEO Tomas Hauer.

Conditions we use for clerkships allocation:

These are criteria for bilateral clerkships (one student in / one out). Bilateral clerkships are very advantageous(financially) for you but there is obviously huge interest in them. Therefore we use language test and other criteria to decide who gets the clerkship and who does not:

1) Language test: max. 55%

2) IFMSA and Motolak activities: max. 30%

3) Research and educational activities: max. 15%

Language test:

Is made by professionals on MEDICAL ENGLISH. This year, the test consists of two parts: MEDICAL ENGLISH and GRAMMAR.

IFMSA / Motolák aktivities:

Our new project coordinators work on variety of projects. The list of them for the end of 2009 and 2010 will be published after the IFMSA CZ National Assembly (6.-8.11. 2009). You will have the opportunity to actively join the projects (work on them) and get the bonification. Please, check for the IFMSA and Motolak web page for details or contact directly the project coordinators.

Research and educational activities:

In case you do some research or teach the younger students at faculty (anatomy, etc...) and you want to get the bonification, please bring us the confirmation from the departments (write there what exactly you do! ) signed by the head of department.

What happens next???

After the test we will publish the results (test + IFMSA/Motolak activities + teaching and research). Then, we will arrange meeting where we allocate the clerkships (both clinical and research) - student with best result has the right of first choice etc...

When you get the clerkship,
you will have to get all the necessary documents ready (motivational letter, letters of recommendation, etc...). You will also have to pay the organizational fee - 8.000 Kč. (this is for the organization of clership, lodging and boarding). You will also need to cover travelling expenses, insurance and pocket money.

When you do not get the clerkship,
there is still a good chance that someone will eventaully refuse to go (always happens) or there will be an offer of free clerkship from other faculties. So watch carefully our web.

You can also use the opportunity of unilateral clerkships. With these clerkships you have to cover all the expenses yourself. For more info, contact LEO or LORE.
