The historical First Faculty of Medicine, founded by Charles IV as one of the original faculties of Charles University in Prague established in 1348, recently celebrated the reopening of its central administrative building. On 15th October 2008, day per day 125 years after its initial inauguration, the first part of the large building complex reconstruction was officially terminated. Large investments allowed reopening not only of administrative offices serving more than 1400 faculty employees and almost 4 500 students, but also new facilities of the Clinical Department of Stomatology (Dentistry) and of the Institute of Medical Biochemistry. This reopening was coronated by inauguration of the magnificent statue Hygeia created by the famous Czech sculptor Olbram Zoubek.
